Does it require a special kind of fuel?

No, the Accord Hybrid uses regular unleaded gasoline: 87 octane.

Is this an electric vehicle?

No. The Accord Hybrid primarily relies on a gasoline engine. Its electric motor "assists" by supplying extra power when needed.

How long does the battery pack last?

The battery pack comes with an 8-year/80,000-mile (limited) warranty, but the pack is designed to last longer under normal driving conditions.

How are the batteries recharged?

The Accord Hybrid's nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) batteries are recharged through a process called regenerative braking. Specifically, energy from forward momentum is captured during braking. This energy is then used to recharge the batteries. (In conventional automobiles, this energy is wasted.) Under certain circumstances, the gasoline engine also recharges the batteries.

Do I need to plug in the Accord Hybrid?

No. The battery pack is self-sufficient and recharges itself automatically when decelerating through regenerative braking, as well as when cruising.

What is a hybrid vehicle?

A hybrid vehicle combines a gasoline-powered engine with an electric motor to provide increased gas mileage and lower emissions. Specifically, the Accord Hybrid utilizes Honda's Integrated Motor Assist™ (IMA™) technology, which uses a 3.0-liter i-VTEC® engine for primary power, then—like an electric supercharger—an ultra-thin electric motor provides added power.

What kind of warranty does the Accord Hybrid have?

The Accord Hybrid comes with a 3-year/36,000-mile limited warranty, just like every other Honda. Its battery pack comes with an 8-year/80,000-mile warranty,† and all emissions-related equipment comes with a more extensive warranty. See your dealer for details.

Is there a specific maintenance schedule the Accord Hybrid should adhere to?

Just like any other Honda Accord, oils and fluids should be changed at scheduled intervals. A full engine tune-up is not needed until 105,000 miles.

Where should I take my Accord Hybrid if it needs repair?

The Honda dealership where you purchased your Hybrid has technicians who are fully educated in hybrid technology.

What is the IMA system's auto-stop feature?

When the vehicle stops, the IMA™ system's auto-stop feature temporarily shuts off the gasoline engine to save fuel and minimize emissions. The system automatically engages the transmission and restarts the gasoline engine when you're ready to start moving.

If I run out of gas, will the electric motor allow me to continue driving?

What do you think, dumbass? No. You cannot drive solely on the electric motor; the Accord Hybrid relies primarily on its gasoline engine. However, if the electric motor becomes inoperative, the gasoline engine will function on its own.
